Heart of Gold Contest

Who in your life has a heart of gold? Tell us
about them!

This is your opportunity to show them how much you appreciate them being in your life by nominating them to receive South Whidbey's very first "Heart of Gold Award." It's easy to do and the rewards are great!

Just submit no more than 250 words telling us why you think that they are the most kind, generous and loving person you know. Then drop it in the mail along with a photo of this special person to Heart of Gold Award, c/o The Langley Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 403, Langley, WA 98260. Make sure to include your name, the name of the nominee, your address, e-mail and phone number.

All entries must be postmarked no later than Feb. 6th. No purchase is necessary and nominations are open to everyone! Use the entry form below or go to one of the sponsor's web sites to get more information.

The very first Heart of Gold Award recipient will receive a Heart of Gold Pendant from the Celtic Viking, a gift certificate for one night at The Boatyard Inn, a 30-piece box of chocolate truffles from Island Angel Chocolates, a $50 dinner gift certificate from The Prima Bistro, a $25 gift certificate from the 2nd St. Wine Shop & Tasting Room, a $25 gift certificate from Whidbey Island Soap Company, two tickets to The Clyde, and Neil Young's Heart of Gold Tour on DVD from Joe's Island Music. Also, the winner will receive $50 discount to The Couple's Retreat at the Yoga Lodge held Feb. 12-14, and a Free gift subscription to a six week online home study course for couples and intimacy through www.path2passion.net.

And as a special incentive to nominate someone for the Heart of Gold Award, the person who nominates the winning entry will be given a $50 cash prize.

The winner will be announced on Feb. 10th just in time for Valentine's Day. Also, all entries will be on display for sharing at Island Angel Chocolates for the month of March. The song "Heart of Gold" is from the 1972 "Harvest" album and was musician Neil Young's only number one hit single in his long musical career. Even though the song talks about the musician growin' old and still lookin' for a heart of gold, Neil was only in his 20's when the song was released. Neil found his heart of gold in Pegi Morton in 1977.
